italy

i just made an appointment for a mini-check of my car. especially the airconditioning has to be fine when on holiday in italy. the last time i went the temperature was between 35-40ºC!

yesterday evening i caught up my italian:
sono allegro andare in italia.
andiamo all'automobile per germania e austria.
abbiamo un appartamento in affito alla regione Umbria.
la vacanza dura due settimane.

recent stuff

some things have changed recently and that's an understatement. i left my boyfriend. and i'm in love. and i wrote something last night. it's in dutch and out of consideration of B. i won't publish it online.

first fencing tournament

a week ago almost our whole beginners' class went to a fencing tournament in veldhoven. some already had competition experience, but it was my first time. we gathered early in the morning and drove off. although it took a while before we found the sports centre... we were in time. especially the women electric, because we had to wait for over two hours to get started. which in the end came in very handy because i had to buy an electric foil.

the women electric started in 2 groups. the first round i won 2 out of 6, so in the second round i ended in the A-group. this round i also won 2 matches.
the first time i stood against a 'real opponent' i did realise i seriously wanted to win. but i did my utter most best to stay relaxed. maybe i should be more competitive the next time...

when i was young i was a very bad loser... yeah really. especially with board games and playing tennis. i was like mcenroe. most of the times i was harsh on myself though. but with age comes .... duh
let's say nowadays when playing games my motto is: have fun, 'tout est relative'.

this picture i scanned myself. it's an old photograph taken in indonesia. in the middle you see my mom on her father's arm. a little left behind him is my grandma. i think she is very beautiful. right before my grandfather are two brothers of my mom. the other people i don't know.

memories

first time in france (1977)

my dad started scanning a lot of old photos. here's one. this is me (in the red dress) and my sister enjoying the atlantic ocean in france, at la rochelle to be exactly. first time we went abroad by car. we stayed a week and had a great time. i remember the little crabs lying in the gutter, and wondered how they got up there the sea was not even close. i remember the tent we slept in and the one day it only rained and my father made some construction with the 'achterklep' of the car and the tent so we had more space. i ate my first croissant. i bought my first souvenir super 'kitsch': it was an elephant made by tiny shells (a year or two later i saw exactly the same at texel.... duh)
